The
Navarra Quartet won 2nd Prize in the 2007
Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.
Winners of the 2005 Florence International Chamber Music
Competition and selected for representation by YCAT in
2006, the Navarra Quartet is emerging as one of the
leading young quartets of their generation.

The Ensemble is the longest established chamber music
group in Britain. Its concerts of eighteenth century
music regularly draw full houses to the South Bank. The
group plays at festivals and music clubs throughout the
country, and is frequently broadcast. Its recordings of
Vivaldi, Albinoni, Telemann and Handel have received
international acclaim.

Since graduating from the Royal Academy of
Music in 2006, 24-year-old British violinist Thomas
Gould has established a busy and varied career. In 2006
Thomas was selected by YCAT, leading to debut recitals
with pianist John Reid in the Purcell Room, St. George’s
Bristol, Bridgewater Hall and the Wigmore Hall. A
former organ scholar at Clare College, Cambridge, John
Reid studied piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of
Music and now has a busy career as an accompanist.

The
Henschel Quartet, as prize winners of no less than six
International String Quartet competitions, is firmly
established as one of today's leading string quartets.
Constant critical acclaim has led to an impressive
international career. The quartet performs regularly in
prestigious chamber music cycles worldwide and has
performed several times at the BBC Proms concerts.
Their
recordings, which include the complete Mendelssohn
String Quartets, have won several awards and been top
of the classical charts in Japan.

Lecture: Diane Perkins on
Gainsborough
Diane Perkins is
Director of
Gainsborough's House in Sudbury, and a specialist in
18th and early 19th century
British art, and has published and curated exhibitions
on Gainsborough, Turner and Sporting Art.
The lecture examines the career of one of the greatest
masters of British art, and looks at his paintings
within the context of 18th century society.
The
lecture is included in the SVAM season ticket

C Saint-Saëns Piano Trio No 2 in E minor
Formed in 1997, the Trio is rapidly gaining an enviable
reputation as one of the most outstanding ensembles of
its generation. In 1999, the Trio won First Prize in the
Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. In
2000 the Trio was invited to take part in BBC Radio 3's
New Generation Artists scheme and selected as "Rising
Stars" in 2002. The Trio
has since appeared at numerous festivals and venues
throughout the world.
