History of SVAM

Stour Valley Arts and Music Society was formed in 1950 to provide live access to music, dance and the arts for the people of the Stour Valley, centred on East Bergholt and Brantham. It has developed over the years to focus primarily on chamber music and an annual lecture on a topic related to art or architecture.

To mark the 60th Anniversary of SVAM in 2010 a short book was produced. Musical Notes gives a short history of SVAM and showcases an anthology of the programme notes written especially for SVAM concerts by Peter Shave.

It also lists all the repertoire performed for SVAM since 1996 by composer indicating the performers. It is proving to be a very useful reference work as well as being a friendly and informative companion to listening to music at home.

During the 2010-11 season, each member household is entitled to a free copy of Musical Notes. Additional copies are available (while stocks last) at £7.50
