Alison Balsom, who opened our 2007-8 season, is continuing to enjoy enormous critical acclaim combined with great popular interest.  She is one of the performers in the 2009 Last Night of the Proms. Earlier in 2009 she won the artist of the year award in the Classical Brits.  She was a previous winner of the Young Performer category in the same awards.  I

We are delighted that the violinist Ruth Palmer, who played for us at our concert in  December 2006 won the Classical Brit Award for Young British classical performer, 2007 in March 2007. This award has raised her profile and her success has continued.

 

For our Countess of Munster Trust concert in March 2007 we were privileged to hear the young soprano Elizabeth Watts perform for us the programme she subsequently sang at the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in June 2007. 

Elizabeth Watts  won the Rosenblatt Recital Song Prize and made it to the final round of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2007 competition. We were delighted to see her successful in this prestigious competition
